The Bremen Recorder Touring Company was founded in April 2000. The Company's intention is undertake annual concert tours abroad and to make at least three high-profile public performances each year within Germany. The founders were
Gesa Scharf,
Sybille Wolf and
Geoff Grainger. They were joined by
Jutta Köster and
Imke Wellmann as guest players for their low-profile debut at a private Ceilidh in
Ceilidh in KITO on Sunday, 18th June 2000.
Whilst not entirely forgetting "traditional" classic recorder works, the Company aims to have a wide ranging repertoire of easy-to-understand, entertaining music covering rags, blues, jazz, musicals etc. Own arrangements are encouraged.
The Bremen Recorder Touring Company is looking both for
players and venues (especially in the tour countries). Please do not hesitate to contact us!
Our first tours were to
New Zealand,
Singapore and
Malaysia in April 2001 and
England (Berkshire/Yorkshire), in October 2001. Planning has started for a tour to the
USA (June/July 2002) whilst a further tour to
Brasil (2003) is being mulled over. For tour details, please see
coming events.
