p_lashwoodg.jpgAccording to the Internet source given below, George Lashwood [Edward George Wright] was an English singer and comedian born in Birmingham.
Using the stage name of George Lashwood, he made his first provincial appearance in 1883 and made his London début at the Middlesex Music Hall in Drury Lane ten years later. Described as "handsome, distinguished and dressed in the height of fashion", he was known as "The Beau Brummell of the music halls.
He toured Australia and the United States and started recordings of many of his songs in 1898. He sang many patriotic songs, popular with troops and the population at home, during World War I after which he retired.
He died in Droitwich, Worcestershire.
