Penny Lane was another great hit in 1967, a little longer than most of the other Beatles songs. This song is also full of odd, mind-catching half-sentences; the banker who does not wear a Mac for instance or that extremely bizarre fireman with his hour glass (very odd), portrait of the queen in his pocket (well at least that is patriotic) and his clean machine (at least that is very professional I would say). A last question dear surfer, how can you have blue suburban skies when it is raining cats and dogs not forgetting the stair rods? Welcome to the world of the Beatles.
The version that I play can be found in
Beatles Songs for the Recorder.
