Ted Snyder was an American songwriter, composer and publisher of popular music. He was born in Freeport, Illinois and was educated in Boscobel, WI. He was variously bill-poster, cafe pianist, staff pianist, song plugger for publishers both in Chicago and New York before going into the music publishing business on his own account. He had a long and successful relationship with Irving Berlin having employed him as a song plugger in 1909. His hits include evergreens such as he Sheik of Araby (1921) and Who's Sorry Now? (1923) whilst in ragtime and brass circles he is renowned for his Wild Cherries (1908). After a long and successful career he retired in 1930 and became a member of the Songwriters' Hall of Fame. He died in Hollywood, California.
