Evergreen Rag is another jolly Scott rag in AABBCCBB form whereby the A and B strains are in G major whilst the C strain is appropriately in C-major. Of contrasting styles, the A strain suggests dance movement whilst the B and C strains are even with hardly any syncopation. In this transcription all notes as printed in the repeated B strain have been faithfully reproduced and not smoothed out as by some authorities. The cover of the original sheet music is as one would expect coloured with a sombre dark green showing a forest background with an angelic violinist and cherubic harp player as the centrepiece. That canny Quaker publisher John Stark also utilised this artwork for another Scott piece namely
Paramount Rag (1917).
Evergreen Rag was published by
Stark Music Co, St. Louis, Missouri, USA.
A tempo of 90 crotchets/min. is suggested.
