Lee White (1886-1927)
Last updated: 20.04.24
p_whitel.jpgIt is surprising that so little is known about this performer considering the large number of recordings made and sheet music located. All that can presently (November 2023) be gleaned about Lee White from sheet music covers and by Internet searching is that she was an American vauedeville performer and songwriter who has been featured on 14 works published between 1906 and 1921. She sometimes partnered and was married to Clay Smith.
Her portrait on the left is taken from a photograph by Bassano Ltd in 1913 and held by the National Portrait Gallery, London.
Surfers are welcome to contribute any further information about this performer.
