I first heard the "Stuttering Lovers" on an LPrecord by the
The Clancy Brothers in the early seventies and it was one of the first Irish songs that I transcribed. If I remember correctly the song was sung solo at an easy pace which is the way I do it today. I find it a jolly and amusing song about boy meeting girl and vanishing into the landscape neglecting their duties, to whit of looking after some birds (avian you deviates!) for a poor old man. What with all their kissing an' all, the poor old guy has to do the job himself.
