Poor Ned Kelly is another song that I happened upon in
The Bushwackers Australian Song Book. It is a lively song is about that great Australian folk hero, the bushranger Ned Kelly, giving a very brief, potted biography of his life starting as a horse thief at the tender age of 16 to his final comeuppance fighting it out in a suit of armour at the Glenrowan Inn at three o'clock on Monday, 28th June 1880.
The song is attributed to a certain "Smiling" Billy Blinkhorn, a fact that you always wanted to know.
