Laudate omnes gente
Last updated: 02.02.24
I had the huge please of learning and singing Laudate omnes gente as a member of Die Zeitlupe at a memorable "Tischabendmahl" on Maundy Thursday in 2006 in Michaelskirche Bremen-Grohn. It was written by Jacques Berthier for the Taizé community of monks.
I really loved this one as a bass singer. Tthe continual repetition, almost drone-like, of just the five Latin words Laudate omnes gente. Laudate dominum [Oh praise the Lord all ye nations. Praise the lord] had the mesmerising effect raising hairs on the back of my neck.
