Five Miles from Gundagai is the very amusing story of a bullock driver who has experienced and forgiven the very worst that life in the Australian outback has thrown at him. One thing he could never forget however, and would certainly never forgive was some poor hound that defecated in his food box exactly five miles from Gundagai. The unfortunate beast comes to an unhappy end, probably poisoned by the narrator.
I sing the song at a steady pace enjoying every vowel and consonant allowing plenty of time for histrionics. This song was also gleaned from The Bushwackers Australian Song Book.
