Frank Coyne (1875-1906)
Last updated: 08.06.25
p_coynef.jpgIt is surprising that so little is known about this performer considering the large number of items located. All that can presently (February 2025) be gleaned about Frank Coyne [Joseph Jones} from sheet music covers and by Internet searching is that he was an English music hall entertainer born in Derby who has been featured on 22 works published between 1892 and 1905.
According to the Internet source given below, before performing in the Halls he had been a traveling salesman and amateur comedian. He took the stage name of his father, Fred Coyne who had also performed in the Halls.
Billed as The Realistic Rarity of Rattling Refinement, he was popular in London and toured successfully in South Africa.
His portrait on the left is taken from Next Door to Me (1901) music by J.W. Hall, words by murrayf;leighfw and published by Chas. Sheard & Co., .
