She was born in Southwark, London and first appeared as Kate Carney in 1890 at the Albert Music Hall in Canning Town, singing Irish and Cockney songs becoming known as the "Coster Comedienne". She was lessee and later owner of the Grand Theatre, Clapham Junction.
She died in London.
