Length: approx. 3 mins. Sounds best with the 1st tenor and bass doubled.
Proclaimed by the publisher as "That Eccentric Ragtime Hit", Wig-Wag Rag has all the hallmarks of Harry C. Thompson composition. Here he underlines his predisposition to the AABBCCDD form the strains of which are lively and contrast well with each other. Here too, this piece for my taste somehow just begs for a repeat of the A- and B-strains, a device that Thompson used in A Black Bawl (1905). Please experiment! The cover of the original sheet music shows an attentive canine trio in sitting in profile no doubt wagging their tails and barking to the strains of this engaging rag.
Wig-Wag Rag was published by Leo Feist, New York, USA.
A tempo of 150 crotchets/min. is suggested.
