Length: approx. 3 mins. Sounds best if the 2nd tenor and bass are doubled.
Shy and Sly was an arranged by one J. Louis von der Mehden, Jr. and is a splendid fox trot in AABBACC form with a 4-bar introduction. As one would expect from an all tenor/bass affair the melodies are sonorous - the 1st tenor will especially enjoy having the all the melodies from start to finish. Not much time for breath-taking here!
The cover of the original sheet music is a pictorial pun showing a shy and sly fox with a mouthful of an indeterminate deceased avian delicacy trotting over the letters T R O T.
Shy and Sly was published by G. Ricordi & Co. Inc, New York, USA.
A tempo of 148 crotchets/min. is suggested.
