Eli Green's Cake Walk was a popular song and this adaptation for recorder quintet is itself taken from an instrumental transcription by Chas. E. Pratt This is a splendid cakewalk indeed having the form of AABBACCDC with a 4-bar introduction whereby the ABC- and D-strains are written in F- and C-major respectively. It is easy to understand why it became a hit and it is still much recorded even today.
