According to the cover of the original sheet music Boardin' House Johnson is a relative of Eli Green for whom Sadie Koninsky also wrote a cakewalk. The cakewalk itself is a grand affair and its form is AABBACCBB with a 4-bar introduction whereby the AABBA- and CCBB-strains are written in the major keys of G and C respectively. As for Johnson himself, he appears to have been a waiter and is shown on the said cover elegantly dancing with a full tray held aloft.

Boardin' House Johnson was published by Jos. W. Stern & Co., New York, USA.
A tempo of 80 crotchets/min. is suggested.
