Length: approx. 2¼ mins.
That Devilish Glide is a lively piece in ABBCB form with a 4-bar introduction whereby the A-, BB- and CB-.strains are in the major keys of Bb, G and C respectively. This adaptation for recorder sextet uses the instrumental version of the same-named song, lyrics by Haven Gillispie. It is characterised by long passages of close harmony set against a steady thump from the rhythm section. The cover of the original sheet music appropriately shows eight red-clad devils apparently gliding down an ice canal in various elegant postures.
That Devilish Glide was published by Frank K. Root and Co., Chicago, Illinois, USA.
A tempo of 80 crotchets/min. is suggested.
There is also a treble solo version of this item.
