Purchasing information Notice for leaders/bass players
Length: approx. 2¾ mins. Sounds best if the treble and bass are doubled.
Unlike Bowman's more famous
12th Street Rag (1915), the
Eleventh has a clearly defined structure its form being a simple ABC in the flatted major keys of F, Bb and Eb respectively. The A and B strains are each of 16 bars whilst the C strain has a hefty 52 bars. As in his other compositions, there are no repeats and very little ornamentation. The cover of the original sheet music displays a charming scene of dancing couples in an otherwise eerily empty 11th Street dwarfed by that noble emporium, F.W. Woolworth Co., the legendary 5 and 10 cent store.
A tempo of 120 crotchets/min. is suggested.
Eleventh Street Rag was published
Bowman & Ward Music Publishing Company, , USA.
There is also a
