According to the Internet source given below, Hans Puls was a German musicologist , philosophy and language teacher and a hymn composer born in Strasbourg.
He studied French, philosophy and musicology at the universities at Freiburg, Frankfurt am Main and Aix-en-Provence. He wrote new spiritual songs with modern rhythms, often collaborating with texts by Fritz Roos, in the 1960's and conducted jazz services.
He wrote Hilf Herr meines Lebens (1962),with lyrics by Gustav Lohmann and Markus Jenny. This song found its way into Evangelische Gesangbuch (No. 419) and the catholic Gotteslob (No. 622).
He died in Neunkirchen (Saar).
