Virtually nothing is known about Frank R. Gillis other than those facts which can be gleaned from the covers of original sheet music. He was the composer and publisher, presumably American based in New York, of the still recorded Coon Hollow Capers (1899) which has the distinction of having been in the repertoire of Queen City Concert Band, Sedalia, Missouri once graced by Scott Joplin as their 2nd cornet.
