All that is known about this American lady ragtime composer is that she composed her famous and still recorded Possum Rag (1907). She was born in Louisiana where she is buried in Baton Rouge. Trebor Jay Tichenor described her in his That American Rag: The Story of Ragtime from Coast to Coast as being the composer of some of the most syncopated, free-wheeling folk rags published in the Southern Mississippi Valley.
