Although a ragtime era composer, Chas. F. Alsop did not write ragtime compositions. He graces this domain however as the self-published songwriter of a pair of patriotic songs celebrating Admiral George Dewey and the exploits of the United States Navy in Spanish-American War in the Philippines.
This two songs in my Electronic Resource collection caught my eyes as, when serving aboard the Mighty VIC (a.k.a. HMS Victorious) in the 1960s, I too anchored in Manila Bay and enjoyed a fine adventure ashore.
