This excellent and authoritative "Life of Nelson" was first published in 1813 and is a must in the library of all naval buffs. My copy is an "Everyman's Library" edition. Dr Richard Garnett described Southey's work as being "the peerless model of short biographies". For my taste, the period and excellent English used by Southey gives more "atmosphere" to the account than given in more modern works.
