p_moxonc.jpgAll that can presently (February 2025) be gleaned about Constance Moxon from sheet music covers and by Internet searching is that she was presumably a British actress/singer who has been featured on 10 works published between 1893 and 1897.
She was a member of the company of players recruited in England and brought to South Africa by Henry Harper in 1884. In Harper's opening production in the newly built Theatre Royal in Cape Town, she played "Clara Glanvil" in Faces in the Fire () and "Mrs Gregory" in The Two Gregories (Dibdin).
Her portrait on the left is taken from Like a Girl (1896) words & music by Joseph Tabrar, and published by Francis, Day & Hunter, London W.C.2, England.

The loss of this valuable resource is very sad and a mystery.
