p_lorainev.jpgAccording to the Internet source given below, Violet Loraine [née Violet Mary Tipton] was an English musical theatre actress and singer born in Kentish Town, London.
Her stage career began as a chorus girl aged sixteen before becoming a star together with George Robey in the musical revue The Bing Boys Are Here at the Alhambra Theatre in 1916. Their duet If You Were the Only Girl in the World (1916: music Nathan D. Ayer words Clifford Grey published by B. Feldman & Co.) became an enduring pop standard.
Her portrait on the left is from a bromide print by Bassano Ltd dated 3 August 1912.
She died in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.
