Edith Chapman

Overview

It is surprising that so little is known about this performer considering the large number of recordings located. All that can presently (February 2025) be gleaned about Edith Chapman from sheet music covers and by Internet searching is that she was presumably an American soprano who has made at least 14 recordings (wax cylinder and disc) between 1907 and 1924 on the Victor, Columbia and Zonophone labels.
Her portrait on the left is taken from a photograph by Aimé Dupont in the Philip Hale Collection at the Boston Public Library.
