As gleaned from the website given below, Maurice Steger was born in Winterthur, Switzerland in 1971. He studied both at the Conservatory and Musikhochschule in Zurich with the Italian,
Pedro Memelsdorff and the Dutchman
Kees Boeke. He has won many competitions and prizes in Switzerland for his recorder playing, amongst them the Graubünden Culture Prize
Maurice Steger has performed as a soloist with "I Barocchisti" (Diego Fasolis), "Europa Galante" (Fabio Biondi), " Ensemble 415" and Chiara Banchini, "Sonatori de la Gioiosa Marca" as well as the "Akademie für Alte Musik", Berlin.
Together with Naoki Kitaya (harpsichord) he regularly gives duet recitals. Maurice Steger is often in demand as a soloist with the Zurich Chamber Orchestra, Cappella Istropolitana and the London Mozart Players.
