Length: approx. 3 mins.
The Jolly Beggars was, according to the cover of the original sheet music, played by Di Gilio's Band, the jolly beggars themselves presumably being the jovial male quartet shown thereon apparently tuning up prior to giving song. The two step itself is as one would expect from the title, a jolly bass/tenor affair. Its form is AABBCCDDC with an 8-bar introduction. The lyrical melodies are in this adaptation for recorder ensemble played by the 1st tenor from start to finish. The 2nd tenor has some bar-counting to do in between fleshing-out chords whilst the rhythm section should not overdo the "umpahs". All-in-all a pleasant piece of medium difficulty that serves well as a programme filler.
