All the Candy is a fine two step which delights in its character changes. Its form is AABBCCCB with a 4-bar introduction and a 12-bar interlude between the final C-strains whereby the AABB- and CCCB-strains are written in the major keys of C and F respectively. The free-flowing A-strain is followed by the B-strain which is punctuated with stops - here the descant has the melodies. The 1st tenor takes over for the beautiful melodious CC-strains whereas the following 12-bar interlude is a lively dialogue between the melody and rhythm sections. The final C strain, played an octave higher than its first iteration, is once again the domain of the descant as also is the final soaring B-strain. A great ensemble piece. The cover of the original sheet music shows a nattily clad pipe puffing pompous young man (with the candy?) promenading before a bevy of beauties.
