Length: approx. 3¼ mins.
Pigeon Wing is a pretty little rag with pleasing and almost sentimental melodies and as an adaptation for recorder quintet it is an all tenor/bass affair. Its form is a straightforward AABBCCBB with a 4-bar introduction whereby the AABB- and CCBB-strains are written in the major keys of C and F respectively. The cover of the original sheet music shows a group of gaily and fashionably clad Piccaninnies dancing presumably an animal number to whit the "pigeon wing". They are accompanied by a tiny tot sat on a packing case. He is almost completely hidden by banjo larger than himself. All very humorous indeed!
