Length: approx. 3 mins. Sounds best if the 1st tenor and bass are doubled.
Poison Ivy! is a great little rag. Its form is AABBCCB with a 4-bar introduction whereby the AB- and C-strains are in F- and Bb-major respectively. Why the composer should choose to celebrate Rhus Radicans, that North American climbing plant which causes so much grief by secreting an irritant oil from its foliage is no longer known. Whatever, there is nothing poisonous about this music - on the contrary, it soothes and delights and should be taken as an antidote by poison ivy sufferers!
Poison Ivy! was published by Maurice Shapiro Music Publisher, New York, USA.
A tempo of 80 crotchets/min. is suggested.
