Length: approx. 3¼ mins. Sounds best with the 1st tenor and bass doubled.
Red Moon was Humfeld's contribution to the Red Indian craze and was also, according to the cover of the original sheet music, a tremendous hit by the Musical Brown Brothers, a saxophone quintet. As for the music itself, it is a pleasant easy-going piece in march tempo. Its form is AABBACC with a 4-bar introduction and an unusual 11-bar interlude between the C-strains. The final C-strain is highly jazzed up and no doubt contributed the Brown Brothers' success.
Red Moon was published by Howard & Browne Music Co., St. Louis, Missouri, USA.
A tempo of 80 crotchets/min. is suggested.
