Stop It! is yet another Cobb rag that could well be performed just with tenors and basses and will particularly endear itself to those recorder ensembles that love these instruments that are armed with a full battery of basses. The composition is in AABBACC form with a 4-bar introduction whereby the AB- and C-strains are written in the major keys of F and Bb respectively.
Perhaps a piece to go along with the likes of Say When! (1918), it is a fine fox trot characterised by stops (especially the A-strain), glides and swoops. Ideally this piece show be accompanied by a fox-trotting dance pair!
Stop It! was published in Melody by Walter Jacobs, Boston, Massachusetts, USA.
A tempo of 150 crotchets/min. is suggested.
