Length: approx. 4¼ mins.
Levee Land is a straightforward one step in AABBAACC form with a 4-bar introduction. Its strains have, as one would expect from the title, a distinct Dixie touch being heavily seasoned with snatches of Southern melodies. The cover of the original sheet music show a capering pair on the quayside before a stern wheel paddled river boat. This recorder adaptation being an all tenor/bass affair brings out the melodies very effectively and should a delight to perform.
Levee Land was published by Walter Jacobs, Boston, Massachusetts, USA.
A tempo of 78 crotchets/min. is suggested.
