Length: approx. 3¾ mins.
Cheops has an interesting involved form of ABAC (expressed simply!). It opens with a very oriental 8-bar introduction before a entering a doleful, quiet A strain which is repeated an octave higher. The B strain which follows allows the bass to develop a beautiful melody set off against subdued chords from the upper voices. The C strains also opens quietly with a walking pattern contrasting the melody and rhythm sections. This strain is also repeated dramatically an octave higher leading to a triumphant conclusion.
Cheops was published by Walter Jacobs, Boston, Massachusetts, USA.
A tempo of 80 crotchets/min. is suggested.
