That Mysterious Rag was a another Berlin and Snyder hit which has remained popular and is still recorded and performed today. The song tells of a mysterious rag that robs the listener of both his or her sleep and reason. This is illustrated on the cover of the original sheet music by the sufferer being plagued by a ghostly beauty ragging away on an upright piano. The cover also has an inset of one Carrie Lily - the perpetrator perhaps? The performance of this transcription for recorder quintet is greatly enhanced by the accompaniment of a vocalist.
That Mysterious Rag was published by Waterson, Berlin & Snyder Co., New York, USA.
A tempo of 150 crotchets/min. is suggested.
