PALACE THEATRE, Cambridge Circus Sir Augustus Harris (of Drury Lane and Covent Garden) took over and renamed it the Palace Theatre of Varieties and operated it as a high-class music hall. During the First World War it staged a series of very popular revues. In "The Passing Show" (1914) Clara Beck sang the song that became the most famous recruiting song of them all, "I'll Make a Man of You".
