According to The New Penguin Dictionary of Music, Albert Roussel was a French composer: had a naval career until 1893, then studied with d'Indy and others. After visiting India wrote some works in an Eastern-influenced style, including opera "Padmâvati". His later works, some in neo-classical traits, include 4 symphonies, orchestral suite in F, comic opera "Aunt Caroline's Will", ballets; also chamber works, piano pieces, songs, etc.
