André Messager  (1853-1929)

According to The New Penguin Dictionary of Music, André Messager was the French composer of "Monsieur Beaucaire" (in English) and other operas, "Véeronique" and other operettas, and of ballets (including "the Two Pigeons"), piano duets etc. Also distinguished opera conductor, e.g. of the first performance of Claude-Achille Debussy's "Pelias and Melisande" which is dedicated to him. Pupil of Camille Saint-Saëns.
