All Around Town is a pretty, tuneful and pleasing fox trot which charms and is characterised by long passages of close harmony between the upper 1st and 2nd as well as 2nd and 3rd voices. Scored Tempo di Fox Trot it is written in AABBACC form with a 4-bar introduction whereby the AB- and C-strains are written in the keys of F and Bb respectively. In this adaptation for recorder sextet the melodies are shared by the descant and treble voices the former of which has the delight of alternating to bass for the final C-strain. All-in-all, a lovely composition!
