Dance of the Collywobbles, an early Anita Owen composition is a delightful cakewalk in AABBCCABB form with a 4-bar introduction. The keys used are Bb- and Eb-major for the AB- and C-strains respectively. How this piece came to be so titled is a bit of a mystery. The cover of the original sheet music shows a happy troupe of diminutive elf-like cartoon characters dancing in a woodland setting. There should be no pains in the stomach either for audiences or performers here - the dance is simply too jolly!
Dance of the Collywobbles was published by Wabash Music Company, Chicago, Illinois, USA.
A tempo of 80 crotchets/min. is suggested.
