The Baboon Bounce is a charming piece, its form being of a 4-bar introduction followed by AABBACC strains with a 2-bar passage between the A and CC strains. An all tenor/bass affair which brings out the contrasting sonorous melodies very effectively. The B strain is especially "ragged" demanding meticulous tonguing to bring out its sombre beauty. Whilst perhaps not quite a masterpiece, this composition is most certainly a gem.
The Baboon Bounce was published by Walter Jacobs, Boston, Massachusetts, USA.
A tempo of 68 crotchets/min. is suggested.
There is also a tenor solo version of this item.
