Wach auf!
Last updated: 02.02.24
Wach auf! is a German folk song which was arranged for a female chorus with piano ad lib by Johannes Brahms sometime between 1859 - 1862.
I sang it as a member of the Studiooper der Universität Bremen sometime in 2002. The song itself is of extravagant, baroque love whereby a suitor amid warbling birds blesses the day his hearttrob was born! Just the thing for Valentine's Day!
Wach auf! can be found in 26 Deutsche Volkslieder - Johannes Brahms published by Breitkopf & Härtel.
