The Universal Soldier
Last updated: 11.10.23
I first heard this Buffy Saint-Marie song in the mid-1960's. At that time, although enjoying the song in general sort of way, I always had and indeed still do have difficulties with the sentiments expressed. I find it hard to blame the evils of the world on the soldier, for my penny's worth, blame should be placed on those who make soldiering necessary in the first place.
The version I sing can be found in Die Mundorgel.
