This train
Last updated: 11.10.23
"This train", which I found in Lieder, Songs und Gospels 2 is described as a "Negro Spiritual". This is a fine spiritual about a train going to heaven and all the kind of passengers it will not have on board namely: gamblers, midnight ramblers, jokers, cigarette puffers, cigar smokers, dancers, hootchie-cootch shakers and Charleston prancers! Great stuff to sing but a sad reflection on the state of heaven.
I sing at a fairly jolly pace.
