Maranoa Drovers
Last updated: 11.10.23
This Maranoa Drovers can be found in The Bushwackers Australian Song Book. This is a cheery, happy song with a nice chorus about cattle droving which seems to me a bit too good to be true. I find long cheerful songs that extol the virtues of hard and difficult labour (not a Fosters in sight!) when there are/were surely much easier ways of earning a good an honest living available, highly dubious. It is hard to believe that a drover made up such a song, more probably a city-dwelling romantic making a few bob for a newspaper! I would love to know more.
