I Drew My Ship
Last updated: 11.10.23
The version of I Drew My Ship as sung by the Tyneside Maritime Chorus is taken from the Northumbrian Minstrelsy (1882). A much loved and recorded song which can be found in the repertoires of such luminaries as Shirely Collins, June Tabor and The High Level Ranters.
It is a sad, sad but common enough story of a lovelorn maid deserted by her sailor lover.
I Drew My Ship is given in John Stokoe's Songs and Ballads of Northern England (1893).
This song may be found in the Tyneside Maritime Chorus songbook
