Home Lads Home
Last updated: 22.01.22
This is a beautiful and moving World War I song from a poem by Cecily Fox Smith set to music by Sarah Morgan. The song expresses the rural communities sentiments regarding both the men and their horses exposed to the trench horrors of those bygone days.
Home Lads Home, definitely not to be confused with the jolly Home, Boys, Home, was one of my favourites when singing it with the Tyneside Maritime Chorus between 2011 and 2014.
Please enjoy the brilliant rendering in YouTube given below. Does any surfer know the singer's name?
This song may be found in the Tyneside Maritime Chorus songbook
