My Bonny Yorkshire Lass
Last updated: 22.04.22
My Bonny Yorkshire Lass is one of three songs that I found at Yorkshire Garland to beef up my repertoire of Yorkshire songs. The other two are The Buffer Girls Song and Sheffield Park,
Here my music hall interests cross over as it was written and composed by Frank Egerton sometime around 1866 to be performed by George Leybourne. It was then published as My Pretty Yorkshire Lass (1876) by Hopwood & Crew, .
This is a happy three verse song of a swain praising the beauties of his buxom Yorkshire lass named Emily (oh, and her father owns a farm!). Lucky lad!!
