This is another beautiful Welsh song that I learned in childhood. "The Ash Grove" is very well known in Britain and Ireland and can be found in many of my songbooks and there are minor differences in the melody. The version that I sing is closest to that found in Geoffrey Shaw's National Songs With Descants. His version, and others is in G whilst I generally sing it in C, but not always. Geoffrey Shaw notes that the English words are by Thomas Oliphant.
